Visit to the Banque centrale du Luxembourg

On 7 February 2025, 6 students from the Economics Workshop had the opportunity to visit the Banque centrale du Luxembourg (BCL). The visit gave them a better understanding of the key role played by this institution in the Luxembourg and European economies.

The day’s programme was rich and instructive. First of all, the students discovered the hall of the BCL headquarters and its numismatic collection. They were then given a presentation on the BCL’s missions, covering key topics such as interest rates and inflation.

After a well-deserved coffee break, the students attended a presentation on banknotes, their security and circulation. This immersion in the world of finance gave them a better understanding of how monetary policy works and its impact on the everyday economy.

The visit was an enriching experience for the students, giving them a real insight into the role of a central bank and current economic issues.
