What are the characteristics of the job?

Electricians are mainly involved in designing, installing and maintaining electrical installations. They are responsible for installing and connecting lamps and lighting, laying electrical lines on or under plaster (coating) and installing air-conditioning systems or electricity-generating and distribution systems.

Electricians can be self-employed or work for a specialist company. They may work in private homes or large buildings.

What is the objective of the training?

Vocational training as an electrician, which prepares students for working life, gives them a general, theoretical and practical education that enables them to obtain a vocational qualification sanctioned by the Vocational Aptitude Diploma (DAP).

What does this training consist of?

The training, leading to an electrician’s diploma, normally lasts 3 years and is offered under an apprenticeship contract at ENAD . The aim is to enable students to enter the world of work or to continue their studies with a view to obtaining a technician’s diploma or a master craftman’s diploma. An intermediate integrated project is organised in the middle of the course and a final integrated project closes the course.

The training pathway is organised on a modular basis. Each module aims to develop a number of skills (e.g. numeracy/mathematics, tool handling and maintenance, site planning and safety, environmental regulations) and is geared towards practical work situations.

How long does the course last?

The course normally lasts three years (6 semesters).

At ENAD, you have the opportunity to complete your training in a setting where everyone is treated as an individual. I find the small class system very pleasant, and the lessons are simply fantastic, structured in a super exciting way and very easy to understand, so that everyone in the class can keep up.
